The quickest and easiest way to get into this industry is to just start writing; it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the professional training. The beauty of the world wide web is that you can quickly get your work read by hundreds of avid football fans. Yes you’re going to make mistakes; yes you’re going to bump into Mr Know-it-alls, “Your facts are wrong…” blah blah blah. But this is the best way to learn!
Start writing today and reach ¼ million eyeballs instantly!
Write for a particular club team or write generic football articles.
As a writer at Football FanCast you get support and advice from our Chief Editor. You will get your own homepage where all your articles are archived, which forms your personal online portfolio. You instantly reach thousands of likeminded and some not so likeminded fans, and what’s more you get a response from them! This is a powerful tool for you to present potential employers with. Who’s going to get that job? The guy with the journalism degree? Or the guy with the journalism degree and a huge portfolio of work?

“As an aspiring Sports Writer, Football FanCast has been invaluable for me. I have recently been published by Hotspur, Tottenham Hotspur’s official magazine and this would not have been possible without my writing for FFC” Andrew Fitchett
One more thing you should do/know
The best football writers today will be web savy, an expert on social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter; as well as be able to turn their hand to being in front of a camera, behind the camera, and able to speak at an interview. Make sure you have your own dictaphone, and know how to upload content onto the internet. As the traditional newspapers get to grasp with online journalism, they will need a new breed of journalist that can master content management systems and work the promotional trail on the world wide web through social marketing.
